As of right now, there are less than a handful of Canadian PA blogs. I’ve listed my two favourite ones here. I’ve also linked to my reflections in my own PA practice, however I did not start blogging until I was half way through my PA clerkship in 2nd year, and did not start blogging regularly until I was well into practicing as a PA.
Also included are links to some popular American PA blogs, and other social media links you may find helpful.
Canadian PA Blogs
Sandy is a McMaster PA Program graduate who blogged about her experiences in her first and second year of PA school. If you wanted to ever see her day at the MMI, its like to take classes, do PBL, what clinical rotations look like, or even seeing how PA students can take international electives,
Eden is a University of Manitoba PA graduate who blogs about her PA journey, starting with the 1st year of the program, her Capstone project, clinical rotations in 2nd year, graduation, and the job hunt – which is quite different than the Ontario experience. Eden continues to blog and reflect as she works in a hospitalist role.
Carmen is a University of Manitoba PA Student who documents her journey on her blog, and on her Instagram @carmenashley_pa.
Canadian PA Student Association Sites
University of Toronto the Military Program do not have Student Association websites.
The McMaster Physician Assistant Student Association (MPASA) has a student resource website specifically to link to resources available for McMaster PA students. The website has a ton of media, and is updated by their website coordinator on the MPASA Exec. They have a great section on Pre-PA students, with information on admissions, tips for applying, shadowing opportunities, and a few links of interest.
The Manitoba PA fellowship recently started a website and instagram account highlighting life as a Manitoba PA student.
