CAPA Conference Day 2

Day 2 of the conference we had big names like Andre Picard, Globe and Mail Health Journalist and Maureen Taylor, former CBC journalist and now Physician Assistant speak at the conference today

Today began with the Student Breakfast Session: Launching your PA Career bright and early at 7 am.

I loved having the opportunity to speak with students and impart some tips on how to succeed as a new PA grad hire.

I then helped moderate the “Lab Testing in Rheumatic Diseases” with Dr. Vu Kiet Tran

We had a powerful session of Medically Assisted Dying with Physician Assistant and widow of Dr. Donald Low Maureen Taylor.

We then had a session with Andre Picard, health columnist at the Globe and Mail.

Andre Picard then moderated a Panel Presentation “In the 21st Century Individuals Need to Accept Responsibility for their Health and Quality of Life. Should Government take a more active role in the Health of Canadians?

Afternoon Sessions

  • DVT assessment and management (Dr. Tony Battad)
  • Hypoglycemia & Driving Guidelines (Priya Narula, CCPA)
  • Teaching the Motivational Interview (Ian Jones)
  • Vaginal Bleeding in the Pregnant Patient (Dr. Lopita Banerjee & Andrea Pansoy-Torres)

Overall this was an excellent second day with great opportunities for networking and sharing ideas around advocacy.
